Spring 09 We have recently heard people comment that the “perfect storm” is brewing. It is hard to imagine a time when more challenges have converged at once. The failure of another spring combined with a poor seasonal outlook has meant 2009 will likely finish as another consecutive year of below average rainfall. Winter 2009 Right across our region we have finally received above average rain at a time of year when it has the greatest of impacts. We are all hoping it rains soon and this heralds a shift away from the prolonged drought. No respite yet for irrigators with opening irrigation allocations at zero but the catchments are now charged and we are approaching the months of greatest rainfall so fingers crossed. Summer 2009 In early December Booth Associates co-convened a water forum with Rawlinson & Brown for local solicitors and accountants. Spring 2008  The current financial crisis has precipitated many personal and business changes. The credit crunch has meant, at all levels, money is now harder to access. In response to this the Reserve Bank of Australia has already dropped interest rates significantly. Farming continues to toss challenges at those endeavouring to remain sustainable. Just as Australian agribusiness thought the drought was enough of a challenge; all of a sudden global markets seem to have reached a new plateau for both farming inputs and outputs. Summer 08 Rainfall in recent times has eased conditions, some areas receiving as much rain in the last six weeks as has fallen for the first ten months of the year other areas have been less fortunate.
